Utility Bill Assistance

Applicants must first apply for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) which helps eligible low-income households pay for home energy services (primarily heating during winter months).  Illinois residents with a household income that does not exceed an amount determined annually by the Department of Commerce are eligible. Annual eligibility levels are determined based on available funding and may not exceed 200% of the federal nonfarm poverty level. 

Family Foundation Group offers energy assistance to these South Suburban residents providing temporary utility assistance for eligible families and individuals when heating or electric service has been or will be shut off.

It mainly prevents utility disconnections and ensures access to essential heating and electric services, particularly during the winter months.
